Labor day was Monday and it rained all day. The bright  spot was that Brittany stopped by the studio for a rainy day photo shoot. We had a fun time with her and managed to get a variety of looks in the couple of hours she spent with us. As you see above, she even let me try out a concept shot I’ve been wanting to try.

A potential client wanted an “urban look” but there’s no decent location for that style where I’m located on the Eastside and I didn’t really have much to show of that look for my portfolio.

Solution? Working on a tip from a fellow photographer, I spent some quality time with my daughter trolling though an alley in Seattle’s Westlake area.

I spent July 4th this year as the ‘official’ photographer for the City of Sammamish, WA. Covered the event from 4pm until the fireworks went off at 10pm. This is was the 3rd Fireworks display put on by the City and it drew in about 17,000 visitors.

One of my photos made it into the next version of Windows as one of the sample photos!

My Christmas present to myself was to attended SuperShoots in Seattle. SuperShoots is a two day Glamour workshop with a seminar in the morning and shooting time with the models in the afternoon. There were a number of stations with different lighting setups and we rotated  through each of them to experience shooting with them.

JT Smith and crew fed us a lot of information in the morning then turned us loose with the models in the afternoon. All the instructors were accessible for questions and feedback as we were shooting, and made themselves available at the end of the day to review our shots.

This was a new experience for me and I have to admit I was a bit intimidated at first, but once we started shooting that feeling quickly left. If you haven’t attended one of these workshop I would recommend giving it a try next time they come to town.
